Born from real Tassie grit: A shirt made to handle whatever life throws your way

Meet the brand NEW Stanley. It's more than just an overshirt, it's a nod to rugged heritage. Comfy, breathable, and tough enough for Tassie's wild weather—perfect for work or weekend hangs.

Made locally, with Superfine Merino wool woven and sourced in Tasmania.

We've teamed up with the legends at Waverley Mills in Launceston, who've been crafting top-notch Aussie textiles for over 150 years. Using our premium Tasmanian Superfine Merino wool, they've created an exceptional fabric just for this shirt.

Why "Stanley"?

We took our first prototype to the town of Stanley (the nut), north-west coast of Tasmania, known for its breathtaking views and fierce, unpredictable weather. Stanley proved to be the ultimate testing ground, and the shirt held up exceptionally well, earning its name along the way.

Micron + Weight

The Merino Micron Cheat Sheet: Your Guide to Softness

Ever wondered why some wool feels like a warm hug while others feel like a prickly cactus? It all comes down to the micron. Think of it as the DNA of comfort: the smaller the number, the finer the fibre, and the softer it feels against your skin.

To help you shop like a wool expert, we've created this simple cheat sheet. Use it to find the perfect balance of luxury, warmth, and durability for your next favourite piece.

The micron (µm) is the measurement of the diameter of a wool fibre. The lower the micron, the higher the quality and the softer the wool is next to skin.

Wool Category Micron Range Best Used For The Feel Factor
Ultrafine Under 17.5µ High-performance base layers, luxury Italian suits, and baby wear. Silky and weightless; feels more like silk or cashmere than traditional wool.
Superfine 17.6 – 18.5µ High-quality T-shirts, lightweight summer knits, and premium scarves. Zero-itch guarantee; perfect for wearing directly against sensitive skin.
Fine 18.6 – 19.5µ Classic everyday jumpers, cardigans, and high-end knitting yarns. The "Sweet Spot"; incredibly soft but durable enough for daily life.
Medium 19.6 – 22.9µ Heavyweight hoodies, winter knitwear, and premium wool blankets. Cosy and substantial; provides maximum warmth for outer layers.
Broad 23.0µ and above Rugged coats, tweed jackets, upholstery, and heritage rugs. Tough and bouncy; built to withstand the elements and last for decades.

The micron, measuring one-millionth of a metre, is the key indicator of Australian Merino wool quality, with finer fibres (15–24 microns) providing superior next-to-skin comfort by bending rather than poking the skin. According to The Woolmark Company and industry experts, this fineness enables high-performance thermal regulation and moisture wicking, with "Ultrafine" (under 17.5 microns) representing the peak of luxury.

Weight

The weight number used for each garment represents the fabric's weight in grams per square metre. The higher the number, the warmer and heavier the garment.

Weight Category GSM Range Best For
Heavyweight 230–340+ gsm Extreme conditions
Mid-weight 190–220 gsm Cold conditions
Ultralight 140–180 gsm Everyday wear, year-round layering
Featherweight 75–120 gsm So light you can barely feel it on your skin

Easy Care Guide

  • Machine wash 30° gentle/wool cycle
  • Wash with similar colour wool garments
  • Protect your garment by using a laundry bag
  • Use wool or gentle detergent
  • Do not use bleach, optical brighteners, enzymes or softeners (weakens yarn)
  • Lightly reshape and lay flat to dry
  • Use iron on wool/delicate setting (if at all)
  • We recommend hanging your garments to air between wears. Merino wool is naturally antibacterial and odour-resistant, it doesn’t require washing after each wear.
