Authentic. Traceable. Insanely Soft.
Where it All Began
The story of Bluey began in my father's shearing shed in Guyra, NSW, Australia. Standing among the dust and the scent of lanolin, I realised the Merino top I was wearing had been manufactured overseas. When I asked my father what happened to our wool once it left the farm, he didn't have an answer. I soon discovered that 86% of Australia's premium wool is shipped offshore, blended with inferior fibres, and sold back to us—its quality and story diluted by every mile.

Our Commitment to Quality
Since 2012, Bluey has been rewriting that narrative. We chose to stay small to ensure we never compromise on the purity of our fibre. Every garment we produce is single-origin, 100% traceable to the ethical Tasmanian and Australian farms where we source exclusively guaranteed non-mulesed wool. We are fiercely committed to Australian-made quality; we currently manufacture 98% of our range in Australia and are actively working toward a goal of being 100% Australian Made. This onshore supply chain allows us to support the skills of local makers while maintaining total transparency from farm to finish.

Insanely Soft
This focus on excellence led to our greatest technical breakthrough: the Insanely Soft 14.8 Micron Range, our exclusive heirloom collection. While the industry "elite" standard typically stops at 15.5 microns, we pushed further by sourcing the final legacy batch of wool from our family farm in Guyra. By refining this fibre to a 14.8-micron diameter—finer than premium cashmere—we created a limited-edition wool that is physically incapable of itching, offering a "zero-itch" silkiness and superior thermal regulation for sensitive skin.
Authentic Legacy
Bluey is more than a technical specification or a micron count. It is a direct connection to the land and the graziers who run the sheep across our diverse landscapes. Every garment is an investment in Australian textile tradition—a living heritage built on transparency and technical integrity. By choosing Bluey, you are doing more than wearing the world's softest wool; you are supporting the future of a homegrown industry and ensuring this authentic narrative continues for generations to come.
A New Chapter in Tasmania
Life threw us an unexpected curveball when our family faced a tragic loss. For a while, Bluey went quiet. But not for long. We gathered ourselves—and Bluey—packed everything into a container and set off for Northern Tasmania: a land of fresh air, wild beauty, and a community rich in warmth and generosity. While we’re not considered locals yet (we’ve been told it can take years, if ever, to earn that title), we’ve completely fallen in love with the lifestyle. The crisp, cool climate is perfect—not just for us but for putting our Merino gear to the ultimate test.
