What makes Bluey Merino Tasmania stand out from other outdoor brands?

Bluey may be one of the smallest outdoor brands, but we’re perfectly fine with that. Instead of expanding, we chose to stay small and focus on perfecting what we do best: premium Merino gear in small batches, built to last.

Proudly 95% Australian Made. Our Merino wool is sourced directly from Australian growers. This ensures that our merino wool is not blended with lower quality wool, a common practice by brands who prioritise profit.

Is Bluey Merino ethical and sustainable?

We don’t engage in fast fashion. Instead, we manufacture small batches designed to last.

We’re mindful of our environmental impact and manufacture most of our clothing in Australia, except for Merino Gilets, beanies, and gloves. Australia lacks the manufacturing skills to produce these items leaving us with no alternative. However, we do use Tasmanian wool to make them.

We prioritise transparency and source our Merino wool directly from Australian growers, ensuring every piece of clothing we make can be traced back to an Australian farm.

We’re ethical and guarantee that the Merino wool used in our range is non-mulesed. We only work with growers who prioritise the humane treatment of animals.

We concerned about microplastics. The Bluey Green range features 100% Merino wool (excluding trimmings) with eco-friendly coconut shell buttons. We blend synthetic when necessary for functionality, but we keep the amount to a minimum.

Our packaging is made from 100% recycled ocean plastic and certified by the B Corporation. While soft plastic poses recycling challenges, it currently offers the best protection. Previous biodegradable and compostable options fell short during transport. We’re committed to finding superior alternatives to eliminate plastic entirely in the future.

We understand that Australia’s textile industry contributes significantly to landfill waste. Since 2021, our Too Good to Waste initiative has been donating imperfect clothing instead of throwing it away. We encourage customers to fix minor flaws or wear these imperfect items casually, for gardening, or layering. Together, we can reduce textile waste in Australia.

Why are some items out of stock for such a long time?

Unfortunately, due to a manufacturing shortage in Australia, we can’t provide an exact time when your much-loved item will be back in stock. To stay updated, please join our mailing list. We’ll announce new stock via email.

Thank you for supporting Australian-made products; it means more than you realise. Every purchase helps support our economy and preserve our lifestyle.
