Introducing: Snowboarder Alex Parsons

Our newest Living Lab Legend, Alex Parsons, is a travel writer and snowboarder. Alex has taught snowboarding for eight winter seasons and has snowboarded in Canada, Australia, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand and the US. Alex will be testing our gear in the coldest of conditions and helping us to improve our range for winter sports.

What is your favourite sport / activity?

Snowboarding, SUPing and hiking.

Are you a pro or experienced amateur?

Professional snowboard instructor; I’ve been teaching snowboarding for eight winter seasons and have snowboarded in six different countries.

What's your day job?

In between seasons, I’m a freelance writer. You can check out some of my editorials and read my blog at bigworldlittlecat.com.

Your favourite or most recent adventure?

The best from the 2018 winter was a three day trip in Australia’s Main Range – splitboarding with all our gear, snow camping and then skinning up and riding down Mt Kosciuszko. We camped at Leatherbarrel Creek and watched the sunset over the snowy mountains on one side, while the moon rose above the cliffs behind us.

Your next planned adventure or your ultimate dream adventure?

I’ll be in Madarao, Japan for the next few months. Just riding pow, writing and sharing my love of snowboarding.

What is the best way to wear Bluey Merino in your sport or lifestyle?

They’re great as a base layer layer when I’m snowboarding. Merino is the best first layer – they wick sweat, keep you warm and don’t smell gross when you’ve worn them for days on end!

You can read more about Alex's adventures on her snow blog, bigworldlittlecat.com. Follow her on Instagram @lexparso and Twitter  @Lex_Parsons.
